Transforming Public Libraries
State Library Victoria
Thursday April 20, 9.30 - 4.30
Presentations now available here
This year’s theme refers to both the power of public libraries to transform communities and transform people’s lives and to the ongoing transformation of public libraries to meet 21st century customer needs.
Our keynote speakers will be Carolyn Robertson, Christchurch City Libraries and Justine Hyde, State Library Victoria. Carolyn will speak about steering the building of the new Christchurch Central Library in the wake of the devastating earthquakes of 2011, and Justine will discuss the State Library’s redevelopment project scheduled for completion in 2020. Delegates will also have the opportunity to learn about and be inspired by a diverse range of new and transformative initiatives in Victorian public libraries. Topics covered include digital literacy, creative technologies, family history, reader development, outreach to small and remote communities, programing for children with special needs, new service models, and much more.
The Transforming Public Libraries Mini-Conference is part of the State Library/Public Libraries Victoria Network Statewide Public Library Development Projects and is relevant for all Victorian public library staff.
Don't miss this fantastic free professional development and networking opportunity. Lunch will be provided.
